We’ve been blown away by the incredible response during our recent expression of interest period, thank you to all our ākonga and whānau who stepped forward.

We’re pleased to share that our 2026 programmes at Levels 3 to 7 are now fully subscribed. This includes:

• Te Ara Tuarua mō te Reo Māori

• Takaimatua o Te Kōhanga Reo

• Takai Tukutuku o Te Kōhanga Reo

• Te Tohu Mātauranga Whakapakari Tino Rangatiratanga – Tohu Paetahi (Kaupae 7)

This strong response speaks to the dedication of our whānau across the motu who continue to uplift the kaupapa and grow their mātauranga Māori.

There’s still time, and still space to start your journey with Te Ara Tuatahi mō te Reo Māori (Kaupae 2) for 2026.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, now’s the time to act. This is our entry-level course for ākonga who are new to te reo Māori, and it’s delivered in a way that works for busy whānau.

No interview required. No need to have studied before. Just a desire to learn, and the support of your whānau.
 

Entry criteria:

• Be 17 years or older

• Have a desire to learn te reo Māori

• Be supported by your Kōhanga Reo whānau
