About the role
Are you passionate about nurturing the next generation in a vibrant Te Reo Māori environment?
As a Kaiawhina at Te Kohanga Reo o Raurimu, you will play a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of mokopuna. This position offers you the opportunity to work closely with an experienced Kaiako, helping to create a culturally rich and immersive learning space. You'll make a real difference in the lives of our tamariki, guiding them to become confident and competent in their identity and language.
Key responsibilities
- Support for Teaching Staff: Work alongside Kaiako to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences for mokopuna.
- Development of Mokopuna: Interact with tamariki to nurture their confidence and skills in Te Reo Māori.
- Operational Duties: Help with daily tasks, including maintaining a clean and safe environment and ensuring safe transport for mokopuna.
- Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with mokopuna, kaimahi, and whanau.
- Quality Assurance: Contribute to a welcoming and safe learning space in alignment with Te Whariki a Te Kohanga Reo.
- Cultural Competence: Actively promote Te Reo Māori and support whanau in connecting with their culture.
Job Requirements
- A genuine passion for Te Reo Māori and tikanga.
- Some experience in an Kohanga environment would be beneficial
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and be open to learning from others.

- Enthusiastic about working with tamariki and contributing to their development.
- Adaptable and willing to embrace the dynamic nature of the role.
