About the role
- We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated kaiako (teachers) to join our whanau and contribute to the positive learning journey of our tamariki. If you are enthusiastic about Te Reo Māori and its significance in early childhood education, and if you are committed to providing highquality care and education that respects and reflects tikanga, we encourage you to apply. Key responsibilities
- Uphold the kaupapa and mātāpono of Te Kōhanga Reo.
- Collaborate closely with whānau and kaimahi to foster a nurturing environment for our tamariki.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for the educational and cultural development of mokopuna.
- Pursue professional development within the Kōhanga Reo training framework.
Essential criteria
- Fluency in te reo Māori and deep understanding of its tikanga.
- Passionate about working tamariki.
- Must not have a criminal record.
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Kōhanga Reo or similar educational setting.
- A current core workers police vetting.
- Holds a current first aid qualification.
- Holds Te Tohu Te Ara Tuatahi.
- Holds Te Tohu Te Ara Tuarua.
- Holds or enrolled in either Te Tohu Whakapakari or Te Tohu Paetahi.
- Understanding of Tikanga Māori.
Work days and hours
Monday to Friday: 35-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
