Board Co-Chairs – Daniel Procter & Te Wheoro Rangikotua

A message from Co-chair Daniel Procter

We step into our 40th year as a movement with pride, proud of what we have achieved and hopeful for what is to come. We acknowledge those that have passed and those whose very essence imbued the kaupapa to serve our whānau and revive our language and culture. I am a proud product of Kōhanga Reo, one of the many fledgling birds who has flown the nest.

He karere na te Heamana takirua- Daniel Procter
“He Manu Pīrere ahau”

I am one of many who have graduated Kōhanga Reo and have become an integral contributor to our communities. I reflect on the vision and determination of our kaumātua to use te reo Māori as the vehicle to uplift the social woes of te iwi Māori, who were suffering urbanization and a strong disconnect from their whakapapa and culture

We now reap the benefits of their concentrated efforts through the acceptance and use of Te Reo Māori in all parts of our nation. A nation that has become richer in culture in the 40 years of Te Kōhanga Reo, a movement that now looks to the next 40 years and invite you to join us on our mission.
